Disney FASTPASS Introduction

Disney FASTPASS - Behind the Scenes

Technically speaking, the Disney FASTPASS system is a virtual queuing system (alternately called a ghost queuing system). Instead of waiting in a physical line (queue), the FASTPASS system allows park visitors to secure their place in a “virtual” line.

Each attraction at a Disney theme park has a maximum number of guests that it can handle in a day.  Based on this number and other factors, a set number of seats are reserved for park visitors in the virtual line.

Disney FASTPASS - Where to Get One

FASTPASS tickets are distributed by a kiosk electronically.  You will find these machines near the entrance of each attraction equipped with the FASTPASS system. As you approach the attraction, you will find three separate lines, clearly marked.

Universal Orlando's Express versus Disney FASTPASS

While in Orlando, you may have plans to head on over to Universal Studios Florida or Universal's Islands of Adventure.  Universal Orlando does have a FASTPASS of sorts but it works quite differently than the Disney FASTPASS.
The program is called "Universal Express."  Unlike the Disney FASTPASS which is free and available to all Disney admission ticket holders, the Universal Express pass is only free for those staying at participating on-site hotels.  Though, not all hope is lost as the Express pass is available for purchase.

SeaWorld's Version of FASTPASS

Will you be heading over to Seaworld during your stay in Orlando?  If so, Seaworld Orlando does indeed have a line reservation system similiar to Disney FASTPASS.  It is called Quick Queue and first became available in September 2008.  Unlike Disney FASTPASS which is free, Universal Express which is free to guests at participating hotels, Seaworld's Quick Queue is only available for purchase.
Seasonal prices start at $29.95 per person and limited quantities are available daily.  The Quick Queue pass can be used an unlimited amount of times on Kraken, Journey to Atlantis, and Wild Arctic.  It is allowed once on Mantra, Skytower and Paddle Boats.
Quick Queue passes are only available at the park at ticket windows, Guest Services, Guest Assistance Center, or the Dining, Tours and Reservations counter.
